The London stone

Unnoticed by passers by and possibly more than 3000 years old, nobody really knows the history of the London Stone.

One of many legends is that Brutus the Trojan who founded London around 1070 BC, a 1000 years before the Roman invasion built a temple in honour of Diana, the goddess on the hill site where St Paul's is now. It has been claimed that the London Stone is from the altar of that temple.

There is a proverb that reads; 'So long as the stone of Brutus is safe, so long shall London flourish'
